On October 10, 2017, artists and scholars came together at Columbia University to discuss experimental approaches to Japanese performing arts for this workshop. The session dealt with artistic engagements of history both through and as performance, emphasizing the contemporary social and political possibilities of performance as an embodied practice. During the 3-hour event, Eiko led a movement workshop and spoke alongside composer/sound artist Miya Masaoka and director Brooke O’Harra.
