The
Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland at College Park presented the premiere performances of
Fragile, a new collaboration between Eiko & Koma and
Kronos Quartet. Eiko & Koma have previously collaborated with Kronos Quartet on the indoor version of
River.
During the four hours of performance, the audience could come and go as they pleased, visit Eiko & Koma's installation Tea House constructed in the lobby, see an oversize projection of media dances on a lobby wall, and spend time in the gallery of the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library where Eiko & Koma's career exhibition “Residue” is on view.
Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center presented Eiko & Koma's Regeneration on September 14-15, 2011 and will present their Caravan Project on May 3-4, 2012. Eiko & Koma as well as Kronos are artists-in-residence at the Center during the 2011-12 season. The retrospective exhibition Residue includes costumes, sets, materials and videos of their performances spanning their 40-year career and is on view now through May 25, 2012.
