As part of  their 40th anniversary retrospective project, Eiko & Koma performed The Caravan Project on August 23 and 24 on the MCA Plaza, Chicago.

For the original Caravan Project, Eiko & Koma's jeep brought the trailer to the site and was then disconnected, leaving the trailer alone.  For the performances this summer, Eiko & Koma kept the car hitched to the trailer so that they could choreograph the movement of the trailer. During the show people could see the caravan come to the site, change locations and angles and leave the plaza for an unknown destination. It was a new way to perform the work. During these performances, Eiko & Koma wore costumes developed for Trilogy and Event Fission.

these durational  performances serve as a companion to the visual exhibition, Eiko & Koma: Time Is Not Even, Space Is Not Empty, on view in the galleries through November 13, 2011. The artists perform multiple times throughout the course of the exhibition.
