William Johnston gives lecture at Colorado College

  • Dr. William Johnston, who collaborated with Eiko in creating photo exhibition A Body in Fukushima will give a lecture titled Fukushima's Forbidden Zone as a Site for a Performance Art: Three Years Later.  Sponsored by Colorado College's East Asian Studies, the event is free and open for general public.

    Dr. William Johnston is Professor of History, East Asian Studies, and Science in Society at Wesleyan University. During the 2014‐2015 academic year, he is the Edwin O. Reischauer Visiting Professor at Harvard University.

    In January and July of 2014, Dr. Johnston traveled with Eiko to the evacuated areas surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactors, which exploded after the massive earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.

    A Body in Fukushima that consists of the resulting photographs and videos from these trips will be on view at  GOCA 121 downtown (121 South Tejon, Ste 100) from December 5, 2014 though February 14, 2015.

    Eiko has been teaching a course at University of Colorado Theater Department and is currently teaching another course at Colorado College.
