On October 3, an exhibition of still photographs taken by William Johnston of Eiko entitled A Body in Fukushima will open at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Shown in conjunction with Eiko's A Body in a Station, a series of four three-hour durational performances in Amtrak 30th street station in October and curated by PAFA director Harry Philbrick, this photo exhibition focuses on radically different terminals in–the abandoned rail stations in Fukushima, Japan. The photographs are selected from thousands of shots taken during the two visits made by Eiko and Johnston in January and July this year to the irradiated communities that were evacuated in 2011 after the reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plants suffered massive damage in the wake of an earthquake and tsunami.
