on May 11, 2018 at the 92nd Street Y, Eiko performed her solo,
A Body in Places, and held a public conversation with Rosemary Candelario, the author of
Flowers Cracking Concrete: Eiko & Koma’s Asian/American Choreographies. EIko started her performance in a lobby, opened the door to the Lexington Avenue and placed her body in the threshhold so both the busy street scene and the people who had to pass the doorway became parts of her performance. She then led her audience members to different parts of the buildings and brought them to the second floor studio, where author Rosemary Candelario had a pubic conversation with Eiko about her history, both with Koma, and in her solo work as an artist.
Lexie Thrash, an assistant to Eiko, wrote about the experience.
