A Stranger in the Cathedral

Hide surroundings Show surroundings

As an artist-in-residence, Eiko performs unannounced in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. As the largest Cathedral in North America, it is never without visitors during its open hours, but never feels crowded. Many people have no idea of who Eiko is and what she is doing in the Cathedral. The art walls display photographs by William Johnston of Eiko in Fukushima, and some visitors realize that the woman they see dancing is the person in the photos.
