This July at the American Dance Festival, Eiko performed a series of solo for very intimate audiences. These mini performances offered a strange and intense experience that invited, almost forced, the viewer’s gaze to engage the performer’s gaze. Performing as a soloist, Eiko willfully partnered with the particularities of places and viewers.
Also shown in the community was photo exhibition A Body in Fukushima, a collaboration of Eiko and photographer William Johnston. He captured of Eiko in radiation-affected Fukushima. The photo exhibit took place at Reynolds Industries Theater, Pleiades Gallery, the Allenton Gallery and the Semans Gallery at the Durham Arts Council. See Photos
