Since March 2014, Eiko has been spending many days at Building 110: LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island. Lower Manhattan Cultural Council 's Process Space Residency offered her the building's ground floor, a huge raw space. She is creating two related works, Two Women
, to be performed on-site as part of the River To River Festival on June 20 and 22, and A Body in a Station
, to be performed at Philadelphia's 30th Street Amtrak Station in October 2014.
Governors Island is only accessible by a ferry. Eiko has been enjoying bringing her friends and performing for them, often alone in the space with one guest. Doing so is a unique art practice, different from performing for general audiences. She also has invited other artists and choreographers in residency and performed for them.
