Alverno Presents produced a site-specific outdoor performance of Eiko & Koma's
Event Fission and
Ravenat Lynden Sculpture Garden in River Hills, Wisconsin on July 23, 2011. When Eiko & Koma arrived in Milwaukee on Wednesday afternoon, three days prior to the performance, they toured the grounds and were inspired by a dried out pond. They thus decided to change the performance site from an idyllic spot near the garden’s large pond to a more bizarre landscape willed with dried algae and other detritus. At 6pm the audience gathered around the edge of the pond and the performance began. Following
Raven Eiko & Koma performed a variation of
Event Fission for which they took off their Raven costumes and covered themselves with flour paste. After the performance, audience members had a picnic with Eiko & Koma in the woods, asking questions and offering their comments.
