Mrs. Beate Gordon is the former Performing Arts Director of the Japan Society and of Asia Society. She presented Eiko & Koma's New York debut of White Dance at Japan Society in 1976. The following year she invited them to Japan Society again to perform Fur Seal and helped them to stay in the U.S. Mrs. Gordon also presented Eiko & Koma's By the River at Asia Society in 1986. This interview was shot on May 27, 2010 at Danspace Project, following Eiko & Koma's revival performance of White Dance as a part of the retrospective program Regeneration. Mrs. Gordon speaks about how she got to know Eiko & Koma and how she has seen their work develop.
